October 25, 2009 10:31 am | #2I see it EXACTLY the opposite way. Brenda was way more mature in the first two seasons than by S3 and S4. She actually degenerates so far that she seems bipolar and I wish they would have went into it further. Brandon even says that her highs and lows are too much and she agrees with him. Her rash behavior (Stewart) and deep lows (quitting school because of Dylan) suggests that she was unstable. All she based her happiness on was whether or not she had Dylan. (“You won. You got Dylan.”)
October 25, 2009 10:49 am | #3However, Kelly wanted more than Dylan. She tried to fix her relationship with Brenda (okay, I realize she severed it, but she did try to repair it). She blossomed in college, focusing on her degree, her friends, and extracurrics. She went from a girl afraid of her reputation to a strong, confident woman with interests. If she had been fake, she wouldn’t have chosen an AIDS clinic for school. She wouldn’t have worked at the health clinic. I can understand your opinion of Brenda
October 25, 2009 11:01 am | #4And if Dylan was so over Bren & he & Kels love was so much better then how come Brenda’s name always came up in all of his relationships after her even when she wasn’t on 90210 anymore excluding Toni. Everyone knew what was up.Especially Kelly. Val had it right “Brenda’s Dylan” for always.
October 25, 2009 11:44 am | #5Brenda’s name came up in K/D’s relationship because Kelly was a naturally insecure girl and she was afraid that he would go back to Brenda because Brenda was better than her. But, as said in S5, he taught her that she was worthy and beautiful. It was brought up with Val because Val wanted to be Brenda. So she wanted Dylan because Brenda had had him. I see that seen as *Donna* announcing to the fans that Brenda was gone and Dylan was now FOR SURE Kelly’s Dylan.
October 25, 2009 12:34 pm | #6Wasn’t that like how long after he’d JUST chose Kelly. She’s allowed time to still hurt over her 1st real love & the only guy who’d ever been inside her & as for maturity I meant how bitchy she seemed in the beginning with influence of her new friends Kelly & donna & how she became a little nicer came to realize what she wanted in life & that she’d always love Dylan. When it came down to it she was always still the DIVA that would fight for the part she wanted in the play & win.Brenda ruled 90210
October 25, 2009 1:08 pm | #7Hava point there about insults. No need for those. But let’s remember they had to make something work with Brandon leaving in which he & Kel probably woulda stayed together & with shannen being fired. Otherwise it would have ended the way season four did but with wedding bells. The epic couples always have 2 be broken up so they can have the big make up they know we’ll be waiting for in which they hoped we’d forget about which some obviously did.
October 25, 2009 1:32 pm | #8I don’t agree, but I can concede that there was that option. I think that if fanbases had been strong enough for B/D and K/B, they would have written it that way. I don’t care how big a pain someone is, if you want to create an ending, you’ll deal with the person. Shannon was expendable, which means that B/D was expendable. I think people didn’t forget; they didn’t mind. To me, when Dylan called Kel his soulmate in S3, that made them canon. And they stayed canon for the last 7 seasons.
October 25, 2009 1:42 pm | #9If two people truly love each other, nothing is going to get in their way. Brandon, Matt, Brenda, Toni, Suzanne, his addictions, her rape–there were so many obstacles against Kelly and Dylan and they made it through. He wasn’t tired of Jim; he got tired of Brenda’s drama, just like everyone else had and that allowed him to get to know and really fall in love with Kelly. That’s how *we* see it.
